Rome tickets
As you’ll notice on this site, it’s not too difficult to find a good offer for an air ticket to Rome. Many airline companies serve Fiumicino and Ciampino and some of the rates are truly competitive. Our website easily compares the different rates to give you an overview of the offers. Booking has never been that easy! Please consider the conditions that might apply for check-in and luggage: some airlines require you to check in online and only allow you to check in luggage against a fee. Generally, you’ll be able to bring 20 kilos plus one piece of hand luggage, but these numbers might be lower at some airlines. Also check what time you have to be on the airport (generally between two and one hours in advance) and don’t forget your passport! A last thing to consider are the regulations on items that you can and cannot carry within your hand luggage. After 9/11, strict rules are in force. In the European Union, it is forbidden to carry liquids in quantities of above 100 ml in your hand baggage. You wouldn’t be the first one to be ripped off your bottle of water, perfume or pesto jar.
Rome airports
Rome has two public airports: Fiumicino (also called Leonardo da Vinci) and Ciampino, named after the aviator G. B. Pastine. Both airports are well connected with many European cities. Fiumicino is generally seen as the principal airports, whilst the former military airport Ciampino is served by more low-cost carriers. From Fiumicino, it takes about half an hour to get to the city by train or taxi. Fiumicino is connected to Rome Termini by a train that runs every half hour and takes about 30 minutes. Ciampino is a bit further away, but is well connected by bus or by a combination of bus and metro (see also the section Getting Around)
